Healthy Tip # 169

Tip # 1
Everyone should have an annual oral cancer screening with an adjunctive device, like Identafi. HPV, which almost everyone that has sex has been exposed to, is the leading cause of oral cancer now. Smoking and drinking are no longer the main perpetrators. If your dental provider sees a suspicious lesion with their naked eye, the lesion may be too far along and in stage 3 or 4. An adjunctive device is absolutely necessary. Leaving this out of your dental exam is like going to an annual obgyn appointment and telling your provider there is no need to send your pap smear to the labs, but instead should only “have a look” and “feel around”.

toothbrushpasteTip # 2
Throw your manual toothbrush in the trash and update to an electronic toothbrush, and a battery operated brush does not count. Companies, like Phillips’ spend billions of dollars on research on how to best clean the teeth. Electronic brushes will absolutely keep your teeth cleaner, more polished and smooth which all make it harder for stains to stick to your teeth. Also, when used properly will prevent gingivitis which is more common than you think. Gums should be pink and not bleed with brushing or flossing. If your gums bleed, you have gingivitis, which could eventually lead to losing teeth.

Tip # 3
Treat your teeth to KOR deep whitening for the New Year!! I give a 100% guarantee to my clients that they will have a much whiter smile or their money back. KOR plus an electronic toothbrush equal white teeth for life! No sensitivity on 98% of my clients and it doesn’t hurt the enamel. It does however require patient compliance with two half hour in-office visits and an at-home commitment. All my clients are 100% happy with the results, even when they opt out of the at-home portion!
